Taking A Girl Out For Dinner

May 10, 2010 at 3:20 pm 20 comments

So I was composing a post and was showing the following write up to Mona.

Tips for guys on taking a woman out for dinner

If you take a woman to a restaurant she WILL find some reason to complain about SOMETHING. You are not expected to fix it, but listen and nod as if it’s a major world problem that should be debated in the UN.

The woman will expect you to call the waiter/server for a glass of water or ketchup or extra sauce or whatever. Women’s Lib be damned.

Please refrain from checking email on your Blackberry while you are on the dinner date. Even the excuse “I am checking movie timings for the movie after our dinner” doesn’t work. Women nowadays are smart (somehow).

She will order “something new” because she does not want to order the same thing every time, even though it’s her favourite. Meanwhile, you will order what you always order. This leads to …

She will eat only half of what she ordered, and say she is full. And then she will want to try what YOU ordered, because she know she likes it, and EVEN THOUGH YOU HAD NO INTENTION OF SHARING. Grrr ….

So Mona looks at me with her ‘tsk tsk’ look and says “So that’s how you think guys should keep girls happy. If only you guys KNEW how to keep us happy!”

“Aha!” I got her, or so I thought. “So you KNOW how girls can be kept happy! Why don’t you tell us, so we can actually do it?”

“Why,” Replies the Woman, “should I tell you? You should KNOW!”

Grrr….

And then she will want to try what YOU ordered

Do girls really do this? I would find this quite annoying… lol.

i would like to know why men just dont listen to women when they tell them “if you do X it will make me happy” and they say “yes honey” and then they dont do it!
that is what makes girl unhappy! hehe

Actually, my husband would try something from my plate!!
Btw, I would tell my husband if there’s something he SHOULD know about me, don’t like him guessing coz most of the times he wouldn’t *get it*. Atleast save me the time and him the reason of saying that he doesn’t know what *I* want. ;)

Yes you should know because you should become experts in mind reading post marriage! :D

I second SF- its the husbands who want to try the ‘new’ thing you ordered!

    LOL @ Achelois’ comment ;-)

  • 11. Specs  |  May 26, 2010 at 11:14 pm

I agree with SF- its the other way around at this end too. I’m the one trying something NEW and suddenly everyone wants a ‘taste’… I get to eat half the serving because the rest goes for tasting.

And yes, husbands SHOULD know. Mona’s right.

    As always.
    ;-)

The last line,”You should KNOW!” means, if only you pay more attention to me! Haha :)

“The woman will expect you to call the waiter/server for a glass of water or ketchup or extra sauce or whatever. Women’s Lib be damned.” This is NOT true at ALL in my case – Mr A will alwyas make me ask for whatever it is we need (by ‘we’ i mean “he”) – his grounds are that as i am female that the waitperson will not be able to be too angry with me AND that apparently i demonstrate assertiveness far better than he! i KNOW this is crap and that really he just doesn’t want to look bad and is more than happy to have them think I am the b*$#h… alas it is a cross i must bear – small potatoes i think when it is he who must pay for the meal!

As for making a woman happy – i advise Mr A what i think i’d like and then when i get it i praise him and thank him profusely as though he cam up with the idea all on his own! hehe – it works a treat – he gets a great meal + praise and feels like superman whilst i got that new top/jacket/shoes/etc!
